Oxfordshire Lops
Thank you very much to everyone who donated money to help these rabbits. Your donations have been passed on to the rescues involved and many of these rabbits are now in their new homes.
If you read our forum you may have already heard about the 79 Mini Lops left behind by a moving tennant in Oxfordshire. The landlord called the RWA for help who passed him on to local Rescues and Rabbit Rehome.
Headed by Greenfields Manager, Lorna Field, rescues joined forces and found foster places for all the rabbits. The rabbits were packed in small cages and had been used for breeding - many had offspring with them. Very few were actually mini lops!
The rabbits are spread out between several rescues:

Message from Lorna: Some of the rabbits have dental problems that will require attention. Most of those will have to have their maloccluded front teeth removed so they will be gummy bunnies. This doesnt cause a problem really other than that they need their vegetables cutting up for them. Of course this makes them ideal house rabbits as there wont be any chewing through wires!!! Basically what we need are homes that are seriously commited to their long term welfare because we wont ever want to see these rabbits in anything other than the 100% luxury that they deserve after all they have been through. The rabbits will be a long term commitment so people need to look at what the next few years of their life holds for them and make sure the rabbits will remain in those plans. I wouldnt like to see any of these rabbits coming back into the rescue system again. They have been through enough. What they need now is stability, space, good diet and the companionship of another bunny. Some of the rabbits are already in pairs or trios and of course they must stay together but many are single. I am happy to pair up any of the bunnies with others from the same rescue group or pair them with peoples single bunnies in need of a friend.
Thank you for your support!
