Homes and Donations Needed for Dutch x Belgium Hare Rabbits

Portslade Animal Rescue (Sussex) were asked to take in 47 rabbits that were in danger of being put to sleep. The bunnies are crosses between dutch rabbits and Belgium Hare's and are a result of careless breeding by the owner.

Places in rescues around the south east have now been found, with some rabbits remaining at the orginal rescue and other going to Furry Friends (Surrey) and Bracknell Rabbit Rescue (Berkshire).

When the rabbits were delivered to Portslade for sorting it was found they are in the most appalling condition - babies with their ears bitten down and all other sorts of mutilations from fights between unneutered rabbits. They are filthy and smell of manure and have been taken immediately to the vet.

If you would like to contribute towards the cost of treating these animals please make cheque payable to St Francis Surgery and send them 'St. Francis Veterinary Surgery' and send to... Miss Rodgers, 8 Norway Street, Portslade, Brighton. BM4 11 GN.

If you are interesting in providing a permenant home for one of the rabbits which range in age from 8 weeks to two year please contact Karen at Portslade on 01273 885101.

From next week (week begining Jan 10th) information on rabbits for adoption will also be available from Furry Friends, Surrey on 020 8407 1080 and Bracknell Rabbit Rescue on 01344 648823
